- The CPD-accredited event takes place on 27–28 October in Chennai.
- Key topics include dam rehabilitation, structural health monitoring and climate resilience.
- Sessions will examine how AI, drones and digital monitoring can support dam inspection and maintenance.
Held at ITC Grand Chola, the CPD-accredited conference will examine the challenges facing India’s dam infrastructure, including the management of ageing structures, regulatory compliance and the adoption of technologies to improve asset monitoring and maintenance.
India’s Dam Safety Act, 2021, strengthened the country’s regulatory framework, placing greater emphasis on surveillance, inspections, operation and maintenance. The conference will provide a forum for industry professionals to explore how these requirements can be addressed alongside the need to modernise existing infrastructure and manage long-term risks.
Attendees will also be able to explore developments in hydropower and pumped storage, including the engineering and operational requirements associated with new projects and the modernisation of existing facilities.
The event is supported by an industry advisory board bringing together expertise in dam safety, hydropower, research, energy transition and infrastructure governance. Its members include Harbhans Lal Arora, hydro, pumped storage and dam safety expert; Professor Pennan Chinnasamy of IIT Bombay and RuDRA Labs; Subhrajit Datta Ray of PwC India; and Dr A.K. Singh, a member of the International Commission on Large Dams’ Technical Committee.
Organised by The Great Minds Group, the conference aims to facilitate technical knowledge exchange and professional development across the dam infrastructure sector.
