Blackline Safety has launched G8, described as its most connected safety wearable to date, combining advanced gas detection, lone worker protection and radio-quality communication within a single intrinsically safe device.

The G8 platform streams live data — including gas readings, site conditions and worker status — directly to Blackline’s cloud-based Blackline Live analytics platform. This enables safety managers to monitor field conditions in real time across industrial sites, with dual-band GNSS/GPS providing location accuracy within one metre even in challenging environments.

The device supports swappable sensor cartridges for more than 20 gases, alongside man-down detection, fall monitoring, no-motion alerts and geofencing through ZoneAware integration. Communication features include push-to-talk (PTT) functionality for crew coordination across sites or regions, emergency voice calling to live monitoring agents, and text messaging for evacuations or mass notifications. A 64-colour backlit display doubles the size of previous models, with NFC TagAssign for instant device pairing and a 35-lumen flashlight for low-light access.

Cody Slater, CEO and Chair of Blackline Safety, said: “G8 gives workers access to the tools and information they need to confidently get the job done and get home safe.

“By unifying gas detection, real-time monitoring, and communication in one connected device, we’re delivering more than incremental improvement. We’re giving every worker a direct line to the people, data, systems and support they need to make faster, safer decisions.”

Phil Benson, VP of Product, added: “As worksites become more connected, automated and data-driven, G8 has the flexibility to meet tomorrow’s needs, not just today’s. It lays the foundation for future capabilities like AI integrations, expanded calling features, and predictive analytics that will continue to raise the bar for connected work for years to come.”

Protected by more than a dozen patents, G8 orders are open now with first shipments scheduled for February 2026.
