MSA Safety unveils updated GALLET F1 fire helmet

MSA Safety has launched the latest version of its GALLET F1 fire helmet, updating its long-running structural firefighting platform with a series of enhancements focused on protection, usability and comfort.
  • GALLET F1 XF receives upgrades to lighting, fit and firefighter comfort.
  • New eye and face protection is certified to EN 14458:2018.
  • The modular helmet is designed for demanding structural firefighting operations.

The GALLET F1 XF has been developed for structural firefighting and is designed to provide firefighters with a configurable helmet that can be adapted for different interventions. MSA says the latest version builds on more than four decades of development of the GALLET F1 platform, which has been used by millions of firefighters worldwide.

Among the updates is a new ratchet handwheel, designed to make helmet adjustment easier while wearing gloves. The helmet also features a redesigned nape wool/aramid neck curtain, with a pass-through slot providing access to the handwheel and colour-coded clips for attachment and removal.

Lighting has also been upgraded through the new L1XF lighting module. It offers standard and boost modes, with the boost setting providing up to 120 lumens. MSA has also redesigned the light switch to make activation and beam selection easier during operations.

The helmet’s soft goods have been redesigned, including the chin strap, which is intended to be easier to grip and adjust while wearing gloves. An optional removable and washable crown pad is also available as part of a new Cleaning Care Kit.

Eye and face protection has been updated with certification to EN 14458:2018, the European technical standard for high-performance visors on protective helmets. MSA has also upgraded the metallised face shield to improve light transmission in low-light conditions.

The GALLET F1 XF is designed as a modular platform, with accessories and configurations intended to support different firefighting requirements.
