  • Kuwait Fire Force responded to 8,282 of 8,751 emergency calls received during the first six months of 2026.
  • The KFF identified electrical short circuits among the common causes of fires and urged regular inspection of wiring and connections.
  • An inspection campaign in Al-Farwaniya led to 24 establishments being closed, 57 notices issued and five closure warnings.

According to KFF spokesman Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, the service received 8,751 emergency calls nationwide between January and June, responding to 8,282 of them. The calls included 2,159 fire reports and 3,171 rescue cases, alongside requests for assistance and public-service incidents.

Of the reported fires, 629 occurred in residential areas and 314 in non-residential buildings. A further 432 incidents involved land transport, while 778 were recorded in other locations. The KFF also recorded five air incidents and one land incident.

Electrical faults remain a significant prevention concern. Al-Gharib identified electrical short circuits among the most common causes of fires during the six-month period and urged residents to have wiring and connections checked by qualified technicians.

The KFF has also highlighted a number of straightforward measures intended to reduce electrical fire risks, including avoiding overloaded outlets, disconnecting unused appliances and responding quickly to warning signs such as burning smells or smoke.

Alongside emergency response, the Fire Force has continued its enforcement activity. An inspection campaign carried out in Al-Farwaniya Governorate resulted in the administrative closure of 24 establishments, 57 notices being issued and five further closure warnings.

The campaign, conducted by the Al-Farwaniya Governorate Prevention Department, was aimed at checking compliance with applicable fire-safety requirements and identifying violations requiring enforcement action.

Al-Gharib also stressed the importance of early-warning and suppression systems, including smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, being installed, maintained and readily accessible.

The combination of emergency-response figures and inspection activity highlights the two sides of fire protection: responding effectively when incidents occur while continuing to address the conditions that can allow fires to start or spread.

The KFF’s latest figures also reinforce the role of electrical safety, early detection and enforcement in reducing fire risk across Kuwait’s residential and commercial environments.
