Stricter rules governing detectors

Stricter rules governing detectors

A new order issued by Sharjah Municipality has told all residents and owners of residential units must have smoke detectors fitted in their premises by October 1.
Three, as yet unnamed, companies, have already been approved to sell smoke detection devices and there are plans to appoint more to cover every part of the Emirate.
Sharjah’s Civil Defence is to be responsible for inspecting sites, but from next year Sharjah Municipality will not give the go ahead for any drawing or plan for new buildings that do not include the installation of smoke detectors, fire alarms and a maintenance programme.
