01 Jul Changi airport fire

The lives were saved of around 240 passengers and crew on board a jet which caught fire while making an emergency landing at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The Singapore Airlines flight which was heading for Milan had left Changi two hours earlier but the pilot had to turn back when a problem developed in its right engine, that caught fire as the plane touched down on the runway, but emergency services, who had been put on standby responded quickly and the fire was extinguished ‘within minutes’ according to an airport officials.

All the passengers and crew were evacuated quickly and there were no casualties.
