26 Aug 300 workers evacuated

It has been estimated that it could take up to four months to repair the damage after a fire broke out in an American oil refinery sited 60 miles west of New Orleans.

The blaze severely damaged a heavy oil hydrocracker used by Motiva Enterprises to make oil and gasoline.

The fire was reported to have started when a pipe ruptured on the hydrocracker, which uses hydrogen under high pressure.

Around 300 workers were evacuated as firefighters fought the blaze but no injuries were suffered and it was extinguished before it could spread to other parts of the refinery. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-oil-refinery-motiva-idUSKCN10M26Q
