3 fires in Muscat

There have recently been three incidents of fire in Muscat, Oman, of which two were in Ghala industrial area and one in Ruwi High Street. Even though there were no reports of injuries, properties worth thousands of rials were damaged.

Some 15 porta cabins in company accommodation in Ghala were gutted.“The fire which broke out around 5:30 am raged for hours. It started in one porta cabin and spread to the others. However, as the labourers had gone to work there were no injuries,” said sources.but around 50 workers have lost their belongings in the fire, the cause of which is unknown. Meanwhile, an official from the company said that they are trying their best to help the workers who lost their accommodation and belongings in the fire.

In a second fire, 12 porta cabins of the Muscat Municipality’s Ghala labour camp were gutted in the same industrial area. Around 100 workers lost their belongings and documents in the fire. Nine fire engines attended to contain the fire.

On late Saturday night a textile shop was also gutted.
